Jessica, I NEVER delete old emails, just file them away in proper folders once I have replied, or addressed them. The only things I delete are emails I will never ever need to refer to (and spam, forwards, etc.) but that is pretty rare! It's always good to have emails to reference for clients, and business/personal needs.

ok... so I have attempted this before... BUT I always have like 6000 emails that come up (all the old ones I thought i deleted, etc.) Do you just get rid of everything that isn't still necessary or do you file all the old ones?
I would love to get on top of al this!

Hi, just wanted to chime in on the spam issue, if you are not yet using SpamSieve you really ought to be. It is the best filter software out there.

You still will need to check you spam folder on occasion, but if you use it in addition with Growl, then it pops up on your screen when your mail comes in. So you see the from field and then subject field pop up and it will let you know that it has put it in Spam, so you can go check it out. It obviously lets you train the spam filter as well. So you inquiry forms and other common words can be marked as not spam.

For the dummies such as myself, this is very helpful as well: http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=77663

Thanks for sharing Michelle! You are totally organised and have your system down! One other tip on gmail stuff: gmail labs have come up with a new option called "Canned Responses" (which work like drafts) and you can insert common responses into your email... pretty nifty! :) Thanks again Michelle!
