Happy Mother’s Day! This is dedicated to my beautiful mother, and my very talented baby sister!!

Last month we went out to a gorgeous nature preserve and did a promo for my Amanda Markley’s latest single “Speechless” (AKA my little sister). We had an amazing warm sunny day, and the location was perfect for the styling of the shoot. I love Amanda’s new hair cut, the bangs and rich mahogany really fit her personality!

For fun, I borrowed a [Canon 5D MKII] and shot a simple one-take video of my sister singing. I hope to use this more extensively in the future to create some really fun video content for the blog! This video was shot, and posted straight out of camera. I hope you enjoy!

Yesterday I headed into the studio with my sister to shoot some promo images for her music. Amanda has been musically gifted since she was a baby, and finally had the opportunity to record her first song in the studio for her 16th birthday at the end of last year. She’s hard at work recording her first album, and wanted to do a fun little session to get some new photos up! I was pretty stoked to test drive a [Canon 5D Mark II] for the first time. While I think the camera itself is a bit “overkill” and “fussy” it was the video function I was most interested in playing around with. Here’s a quick SNEAK PEEK into our shoot yesterday. I’ll be posting more images once I upgrade to CS4 (oops, I didn’t realize I would need that to edit the images!) as well as talking a bit about the camera, and our lighting set-up.

These images were shot with the [Canon 5D Mark II] with my [45mm TSE]. I always find it refreshing to shoot with the Tilt-Shift in studio (every once in a while of course!) and am pretty excited about my first little video shot with the 5D. It’s just for fun, and I’m still getting used to it, but I hope you enjoy! Much more fun stuff like this coming to the blog this year :) Do you want to see more video on the blog? SQUEEEEEE! I’m so excited to finally share this RADICAL promo we shot LAST SUMMER for rising Seattle pop-star EMMY. She was a blast to work with, and it was probably the most ambitious musician promo I’ve shot yet. We covered five different looks, and shot at different locations ALL over Seattle until well after dark. It was really fun to work with her, and I hope you enjoy a burst of energy from these photos! Leave her some love, and then go have a listen to her music! ROCK ON!
