Seattle hair & makeup artist Jenny Bowker!

Welcome blog readers, fellow photographers, new seniors (go class of twenty twelve!) and friends!! If you’ve been following our blog for a while you’ll know that we work with a team of highly experienced professional make-up artists on ALL our fashion & portrait sessions. It’s what [makes us unique] to our markets. While I chose to always work with make-up artists, and have quite a few on our team, it’s [Jenny Bowker] that has been here since the beginning. We met in 2006 and worked on our first high school senior “Allaire” together back in early 2007. It’s been amazing to have her be a part of my team and grow as artists together.

You might ask, how did we meet exactly? Back in early 2006 I worked at a small boutique in Fremont called [Tininha's]. I worked there while attending college, selling the cutest bikinis to amazing women. I met Rosie – a regular to the shop – one day and we were chatting about life, what we did etc. Rosie is Jenny’s sister, and once I brought up that I was studying Photography, she told me how her sister was a make-up artist and looking for photographers to work with. She put us in touch, and we worked on our first shoot together in April 2006. We instantly bonded, braving the cold windy spring for a model test on the beach. I do have to say it was quite a twist of fate I met Jenny so early in my career, and I am ever grateful to the universe for pairing us up!!

Anyways, here we are 5 years later, and Jenny has blossomed into one of the top working make-up artists here in Seattle. She just re-launched her new logo and [website] last month, and is also quite famous for her . FINALLY… what’s the big announcement you ask?. Jenny is now offering [HAIR SERVICES] along with her make-up. Jenny has been doing hair for quite some time, and I’m SO excited she is now *officially* offering this. We’ll be adding the option to have your HAIR STYLED for your [Senior Portrait] – at no extra cost to your session. Make-up is already always included, and now you have the option to have your hair done too!

Don’t forget Jenny does make-up for senior portraits, engagements, weddings, fashion editorials, commercial, film, headshots, you name it! She even does make-up lessons, events (such as dances and prom) and works with all types of skin-tones. She’s like a magic marker for your face. Seriously, I promise. It’s [Just like magic]!

Creative Collaboration, “Sunday Brunch” Editorial

My very good friend (and one might say mentor) [Erin Vey] and I decided at the beginning of the year to do a fun project together in the spring time, to get our creative juices flowing. Last month all the pieces came together for our fun project, entitled “Tea Party” – with two girls and a dog! It was really amazing working with Erin (and crew) and bringing two worlds of photography together (Erin shoots dogs). Here is my take on our day at the park!

Seattle Portraits, India & Kai Sibling Session

Here’s a SUPER fun brother/sister AKA “Sibling” shoot we did a couple of weeks ago. It literally stopped raining the MOMENT we started the session, and the sun was out and shining in full force. It even got pretty warm towards the end!! We took [India's Senior Portaits] towards the end of last year. I was very excited to see her again, and meet her brother Kai!! We had a blast, and I loved that they brought a “funny” outfit for the end. TOO CUTE! India and Kai dreamed up this idea as a gift for their Mom’s birthday present. I think they should win “kids of the year awards” for that!!
